I agree with you that whatever happens, this is going to be a messy process. :/Jamiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00416165790415554997noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35274730.post-91009954878031926102008-11-11T01:02:00.000+00:002008-11-11T01:02:00.000+00:00Jamie,I hold no official position with the Episcop...Jamie,

I hold no official position with the Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh (Southern Cone) so my reply cannot be considered authoritative.

However, the facts are that the Province of the Southern Cone does not ordain women to the presbyterate or the episcopate. It is equally the case that +Bob Duncan has no intention of rescinding his support of his female priests (indeed on Saturday he described Pittsburgh as a haven for conservative ordained women).

Since association with the Southern Cone is seen as but a staging post on the road to an independent North American province, I doubt if the former's views on the legitimacy of female ordination are going to have much impact.

At the October convention it was announced that there were Southern Cone licenses for every priest if they wanted them (and I assume these included licenses for the female clergy). That doesn't mean that this is not a very messy process and no amount of diplomatic language will convince me otherwise.Jeremy Bonnerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16915767119353670952noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35274730.post-43040796712148162912008-11-10T16:43:00.000+00:002008-11-10T16:43:00.000+00:00Hi Jeremy -- thanks for the summary. Something I ...Hi Jeremy -- thanks for the summary. Something I have been meaning to ask you about (to which you can respond by e-mail if you wish) is where the Southern Cone is with you folks on the question of female priests. There is so much misinformation out there about this, so I thought I would ask someone who would either know the truth or would tell me that he didn't, rather than making something up. :-)Jamiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00416165790415554997noreply@blogger.com
